Ministry of Health says ambulance service not responsible for recent death

The Ministry of Health has categorically denied reports that the ambulance service was responsible for the death of a female for who the emergency service was summoned last Sunday.
The sudden death of Lisa Handfield sent shock waves throughout the country and fuelled a range of conspiracy theories about why she died.
In the aftermath of her passing, there were a number of news reports in other sections of the electronic media speculating about the cause of her death.
The Ministry of Health noted the recent news reports which allege that proper procedures were not followed after an ambulance was dispatched to collect a patient on Sunday 18th July, and that this contributed to the death of the person on arrival at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre in Providenciales. The Ministry refuted the allegations and sought to provide the correct sequence of events and procedures followed.
The release stated: “At around 1:19 am on Sunday, the ambulance service on Providenciales received a dispatch call from the 911 services. The ambulance was dispatched within three minutes of receiving the call and arrived on the scene in Wheeland in 15 minutes.
It added: “The ambulance was staffed with a qualified Clinical Nurse, trained in basic Life Support, and an ambulance Driver. It was equipped with oxygen and other equipment and supplies necessary for the management and stabilization of patients. The patient was retrieved and transported to the hospital with CPR being provided en route. Unfortunately the patient succumbed to her critical illness. An autopsy will be performed on the decease and will reveal the actual cause of death.”
